The problem it solves
Rodco prepares federal income tax returns for people and small businesses in El Paso: W-2 workers and families, 1099 contractors, the self-employed and owners whose business runs through their personal return. Your preparer is registered with the IRS, holds a PTIN and signs your return. You get a fixed written quote before we start, and you see every line before anything is filed.
Who we prepare returns for
Most of our clients fall into one of three groups. Families with W-2 jobs who want the credits they qualify for and a refund that lands without problems. Contractors, booth renters, drivers and online sellers who get 1099s and need their expenses counted. And small business owners whose records are behind, who need the books fixed before the return can be done right.
Self-employed in El Paso
When you work for yourself, nobody withholds tax from your pay, and the bill shows up all at once. We report your income and expenses on Schedule C, figure your self-employment tax and show you what to set aside each quarter so next year is easier. If you’ve been mixing personal and business spending in one account, we sort it out with you.
Bookkeeping and taxes in one place
A return is only as good as the numbers behind it. Because Rodco also does bookkeeping, a business owner can have the records caught up and the return prepared by the same team, with nothing typed in twice. Already have someone keeping your books? Bring their reports and we work from those.
English or Spanish
Every step works in both languages, from the document list to the review call. If a parent or partner is more comfortable in Spanish, they can sit in on the review and ask their questions in Spanish. Clients in El Paso, Horizon City, Socorro and San Elizario can meet in person; everyone else works by phone, video and secure upload.

How it works
The same order every time: nothing is built, and nothing is paid, until you have seen your sample and the written quote.
Send your documents
W-2s, 1099s, last year's return and anything else from the list above. Securely online or in person.
Get your fixed quote
We look at what your return needs and send a written price before any work starts.
We prepare the return
Questions come to you in one batch, in English or Spanish, so you are not answering texts all week.
Review and sign
We go over the return line by line by phone, video or in person. You approve it before anything is filed.
Filed, with copies for you
The return is filed and you keep a full copy. If the IRS sends a letter later about that return, send it to us and we will explain what it means.
As little as 48 hours of lead time covers most projects. Larger sites, online stores and sites with booking or ordering systems get their own dated timeline in the written quote.
How pricing works
Every business needs a different set of pieces, so every quote is written for yours. You see your free sample and a fixed written quote before you pay anything. Here is how a quote works.
- Agency-quality work at small-business prices, quoted in writing before anything starts.
- A fixed written quote. No surprise invoices.
- You can own your website instead of renting it: no monthly website fee, with the domain, files and accounts in your name.
- Pay for the services you actually need. Every package is built à la carte.
Questions
What do I need to bring?
A photo ID for you and your spouse if you file together, Social Security numbers for everyone on the return, every W-2 and 1099 you received, any 1098 for mortgage interest or tuition, last year's return if you have it, and your bank details if you want the refund by direct deposit. If you're self-employed, add your income records and a list or statement of business expenses.
Do people in El Paso file a state return?
Texas has no state personal income tax, so most El Paso households file only a federal return. If you lived in New Mexico, worked there or earned income in another state during the year, tell us at the start, because another state return may be needed.
I'm self-employed or get 1099s. Can you help?
Yes. That's most of what we see: contractors, booth renters, drivers, online sellers and side businesses. We report your income and expenses on Schedule C, figure the self-employment tax and show you how to set aside money for estimated payments next year so April doesn't hurt as much.
My business records are a mess. Can you still do my return?
Yes, but we fix the records first. Our bookkeeping catch-up enters the missing months and reconciles your accounts, then the return is prepared from those numbers. It's the difference between deductions you can back up and deductions you're guessing at.
How much does tax preparation cost?
It depends on the forms your return needs. A single W-2 return takes far less work than a family return with a business on Schedule C. We look at your documents first and give you a fixed written price before we start.
Do I have to come in?
No. You can send your documents securely and go over the return by phone or video call. If you'd rather sit down in person, we meet in El Paso, Horizon City and Socorro.
What is a PTIN, and why does it matter?
A PTIN is the Preparer Tax Identification Number the IRS issues to tax preparers. Anyone paid to prepare a federal return must have one and must sign the return as the preparer. Ask any preparer for theirs; if they won't sign your return, don't hand them your documents.
