How customers choose
Catering is sold by quote, and the quote is only as good as the questions behind it. Catering website design gets that right first: package menus people can compare, and a form that collects the date, the guest count, the venue and the menu before you pick up the phone. The photos and the reviews do the persuading; the form does the work. Rodco Systems builds catering websites for caterers in El Paso, Las Cruces and Juárez, in English and Spanish, and shows you a free sample of the home page before you pay.
How do people choose a caterer here?
They compare two or three, usually on a phone, usually at night. A family planning a quinceañera, a couple planning a wedding and an office manager planning the holiday lunch all ask the same first questions: are you free that date, what does a package include, and roughly what will it cost for this many people.
The numbers say catering is close to universal at weddings. In The Knot’s 2026 study of more than 10,000 U.S. couples married in 2025, 85% hired a caterer, guest lists averaged 117 people, and couples spent $292 per guest across everything. A caterer who explains packages and pricing clearly on the site gets the request; one who answers “DM for prices” gets skipped.
What does your site have to do?
Turn a browser into a complete quote request. That means two pages doing most of the work.
The packages page lays out each option (taquiza, buffet, plated, drop-off) with what’s included and how it’s priced, per person, per tray or per package. You don’t have to show every number. You do have to show the structure, because that is how people decide whether to ask you at all.
The quote form asks for the date first. Then the start time and hours of service, the venue, the guest count, the package and any dietary needs, and how they’d like you to reply. A request that arrives with those answers can be quoted in one message. With our CRM and automation service, the follow-up goes out on schedule and the deposit request comes with text-to-pay once they say yes.
What rules show up on a catering quote?
Sales tax, mostly. Texas rule 34 TAC § 3.293 treats a caterer’s charges for the meal, and for the tables, chairs, linens and decorations used to serve it, as taxable. A separately stated mandatory gratuity can be excluded only when it meets the conditions in § 3.337. Your site’s terms and your quote should say the same thing, and your tax preparer should be the one who confirms it.
Alcohol is the other one. TABC issues the Caterer’s Permit only to businesses that already hold a mixed beverage permit. If that isn’t you, the site should say the client arranges the bar, so nobody assumes otherwise.
What does the page look like? An illustrative wireframe
On a phone: your name and a line about the events you do, then a “Check your date” button. Below, three package cards side by side when the screen allows, stacked when it doesn’t, each with what’s included and how it’s priced. Then photos of your setups, a short list of event types (quinceañeras, weddings, office and plant events), reviews from Google, and the quote form. The Spanish page carries the same structure, written in Spanish, with pesos for Juárez events.
That is an illustrative wireframe, not a client’s site. Your packages and your photos go in; the order stays, because it matches how a family decides.

Must-have features
Package menus side by side.
Taquiza, buffet, plated, drop-off: what each includes, how it's priced (per person, per tray, per package) and what is extra. People choose faster when they can compare on one screen.
An event quote form that asks for the date first.
Date, start time, hours of service, venue, guest count, package and dietary needs. The date comes first so nobody fills out a whole form for a weekend you're already booked.
Event-type pages.
Quinceañeras, weddings, office lunches and plant events have different questions. One page each, with the photos and menus that fit, also gives Google a clear page to rank for each search.
Photos of real setups.
Your buffet lines, your chafing dishes, your servers. Couples pay attention to how the food is presented, and a stock photo of someone else's table says nothing about you.
Tax, gratuity and deposit terms in plain words.
How sales tax applies, whether a service charge goes to staff, what the deposit is and when the final count is due. Fewer surprises on the invoice, fewer disputes after the party.
Follow-up that doesn't depend on memory.
A quote sent on Monday needs a reminder on Thursday. Our CRM and automation service sends it, then the deposit request with text-to-pay when they say yes.
WhatsApp and call buttons on every page.
Families in El Paso and Juárez ask follow-up questions by WhatsApp. The button keeps that conversation tied to the quote.
Pesos for Juárez events.
A quote for an event in Juárez shows the total in pesos with taxes included, with dollars beside it if your client asks.

Region notes
El Paso
El Paso County had 13 caterers with payroll in 2025, a small field next to the county's 1,452 restaurants, any of which can take a catering order. That makes a restaurant's catering page your real competition, and the place to win is clarity: packages, what's included, how tax and service charges work. Quinceañeras run all year because they follow birthdays, so the quinceañera page shouldn't read like a seasonal promotion. Say which venues you've served at only if it's true, and which parts of the county (Westside, Eastside, Horizon City, the Lower Valley) you travel to.
Southern New Mexico
Doña Ana County had 4 caterers with payroll in 2025, averaging 68 jobs. Las Cruces caterers work NMSU events, Mesilla weddings and church halls, and a family may book the rehearsal dinner on one side of the state line and the reception on the other. Texas sales tax rules don't apply to a New Mexico event; New Mexico taxes gross receipts instead, so a caterer working both states should keep separate quote templates.
Ciudad Juárez
INEGI lists 11 special-occasion food services and 39 company cafeteria services in Ciudad Juárez; none of the first group and only 4 of the second list a website. The cafeteria contracts at maquiladoras are a different sale from a XV años: a purchasing department wants a capabilities page, menus by week and a contact for the plant manager. A family wants photos and a WhatsApp number. Quotes go in pesos with taxes included, and a Juárez page names the business's address and phone, as Mexican law asks of online sellers.

Questions
Should I put prices on my catering website?
Show how you price, even if you don't show every number. Families comparing caterers want to know whether you charge per person, per package or per tray, what a package includes and what is extra (servers, rentals, travel). A page that explains that gets better quote requests, because people arrive already knowing which package fits.
What should my catering quote form ask?
The event type, date, start time and length of service, the venue or address, the guest count, the package or menu, dietary needs, and whether you serve or drop off. Add a field for how they want you to reply (call, text, WhatsApp or email). With those answers you can quote once instead of trading six messages.
Do I charge sales tax on servers and rentals in Texas?
For a caterer, Texas rule 34 TAC § 3.293 says sales tax applies to all charges billed in connection with the taxable meal, and it names tables, chairs, tablecloths and decorations used to serve it. A separately stated mandatory gratuity can be excluded when it meets the conditions in § 3.337. Your quote and invoice wording should match how you handle it; ask the Comptroller or your tax preparer for your case.
Can I serve alcohol at the events I cater?
In Texas, only if you hold a mixed beverage permit; TABC issues the Caterer's Permit (CB) only to mixed beverage permit holders, and it lets them sell at a place other than their licensed premises on a temporary basis. If you don't hold one, your site should say the client arranges the bar.
How far ahead do families book catering for quinceañeras and weddings?
We don't have a reliable local number, and we won't make one up. What we can say: a quinceañera follows the birthday, so they run all year, while weddings bunch on certain weekends. Your site should show which dates are already taken, or at least ask for the date first, so nobody fills out a whole form for a Saturday you can't do.
Do you build the online ordering system for corporate lunches?
For recurring office or plant orders we set up the request form, the follow-up and estimates with text-to-pay through our CRM and automation service. If you already use an ordering tool, we link it from every page instead.
How do I get more catering clients?
Be easy to find for events and easy to quote. Package menus with a starting price, a quote form that asks for the date, guest count and venue, and photos from real events let a planner shortlist you without calling. Ask the venues and planners you work with to link to your site, and keep your Google profile current with event photos. In El Paso, Las Cruces and Juárez, quoting in the currency of the event location answers the first question.
