How customers choose

Industrial buyers find suppliers the way everyone else finds anything: a search, a referral, a look at the website before the call. What they look for is different. An engineer wants your processes, tolerances and certifications in a list. A buyer wants an RFQ form that takes a drawing. Manufacturing website design that serves those two people gets a shop onto the approved-supplier shortlist, and on this border the shortlist is often written in Juárez. Rodco Systems builds manufacturing websites for suppliers in El Paso and Juárez, in English and Spanish, with capability pages and an RFQ form that takes drawings.

What does a buyer check before sending an RFQ?

Whether you can make the part, and whether you’re a risk. The first answer is the capabilities page: processes, materials, part size range, tolerances you hold in production, the quantities you run well, secondary operations and inspection equipment. Write it as a spec sheet. “CNC turning to 12 inches, aluminum, brass and stainless, ±0.0005 in. on bores, 100 to 10,000 pieces” reads like a supplier. “Precision manufacturing solutions” reads like everyone.

The second answer is your certifications and your track record. State certifications precisely: the standard and edition, the certification body, the scope, the expiration date and a link to the certificate. ISO writes the standards and doesn’t certify anyone; an accredited certification body does, and a supplier-quality engineer will notice the difference.

What should the RFQ form collect?

What your estimator asks for in the first email anyway. Drawing uploads (PDF plus STEP or other CAD formats), quantity breaks, material and finish, the due date, whether a first-article inspection or a PPAP package is required, and the buyer’s plant location. The form sends the files where your team works and tells the buyer when to expect a quote. If you handle export-controlled work, the form says not to upload those drawings and to call instead.

Rodco’s founder has done quoting, scheduling, quality control and order management in El Paso manufacturing. The form asks for what a quoting desk needs on day one, so the first reply is a price, not a list of questions.

What does the page look like? An illustrative wireframe

Picture a desktop screen. Your company name and one line: what you make, for whom, and where. Two buttons: “Request a quote” and “Capabilities.” Below, a process grid (milling, turning, stamping, molding, assembly, whatever you actually run), each with its size range and tolerances. Then the equipment list with photos of your floor, the certification block, industries served and a location panel with the industrial park and the crossings you use. The Spanish page has the same structure and the plant’s own vocabulary.

That is an illustrative wireframe, not a client’s site.

Where is the border market heading?

Juárez is the largest IMMEX employer in Mexico, with 253,325 export-industry jobs in April 2026. It is also changing. The Dallas Fed counted maquila jobs falling from 317,000 in August 2023 to 259,500 in August 2025, as plants moved toward servers, integrated circuits, CPUs and networking equipment for U.S. data centers. Suppliers who show they can serve those lines, with tolerances, materials and certifications to match, are the ones purchasing teams call. INEGI’s directory shows how open the field is: of 2,770 manufacturers in Juárez, 6.8% list a website.

Facts and sources

What your site must do

  1. Quote request
  2. Request for quote (RFQ)

Must-have features

  1. A capabilities page written as a spec sheet.

Processes, materials, size range, production tolerances, run quantities, secondary operations and inspection equipment, in lists an engineer can scan.

  2. An RFQ form that takes drawings.

PDF and CAD uploads, quantity breaks, material, finish, due date and first-article needs, so your estimator starts with what the quote requires.

  3. Certifications stated precisely.

Standard and edition, the certification body, scope, expiration date and a link to the certificate. ISO itself certifies no one.

  4. Industries and parts you already make.

Automotive, medical, electronics, aerospace or data-center hardware, named only where you have the work, with parts shown only when the customer allows it.

  5. English and Spanish versions for both sides of the supply chain.

A U.S. buyer and a Juárez plant engineer read the same page before the same supplier visit.

  6. Equipment list with photos of your own floor.

Machine make, model and envelope tell a buyer what you can actually run. Stock photos don't.

  7. Location and shipping in one block.

Your address, the industrial park, the crossings you use and whether you deliver to plants in Juárez or Santa Teresa.

Region notes

El Paso

El Paso County had 660 manufacturing establishments and about 17,900 manufacturing jobs in 2025, at an average annual pay of $63,296 (BLS). Plan El Paso describes newer industrial growth as mostly warehousing and distribution serving Juárez maquiladoras, near Zaragoza Road and Loop 375. A shop on the Eastside sells to the plant across the river and to its U.S. parent at the same time, so the site has to answer both: specs and certifications for the engineer, crossing and delivery details for the buyer.

Southern New Mexico

Doña Ana County had 128 manufacturing establishments with about 3,300 jobs in 2025 (BLS). Suppliers in Santa Teresa's industrial parks sit next to a port that logged 171,932 northbound trucks in 2025. New Mexico sellers can accept a Type 2 nontaxable transaction certificate for goods that become a component of a manufacturer's product, so an RFQ form for a Santa Teresa supplier can ask whether the buyer will provide one.

Ciudad Juárez

Juárez leads Mexico in IMMEX employment, with 253,325 jobs in April 2026, but maquila jobs fell about 18% from August 2023 to August 2025 as plants moved toward data-center hardware. INEGI lists 2,770 manufacturers in Juárez; 6.8% list a website, and even among the 279 plants with 251 or more workers, only about one in five do. A local supplier that shows capabilities for the new lines, in Spanish and English, with an RFQ form that takes drawings, is easy for a purchasing team to shortlist.

Questions

What should a capabilities page include?

What a buyer checks before sending an RFQ: processes, materials, part size range, tolerances you hold in production, quantities you run well, secondary operations, inspection equipment and certifications. Lists beat adjectives. "5-axis milling, aluminum and 304 stainless, up to 20 inches, ±0.001 in. on critical features, 50 to 5,000 pieces" tells an engineer more than a paragraph about quality.

Can the RFQ form take drawings?

Yes. It accepts the files buyers send (PDF drawings and STEP or other CAD files), plus quantity breaks, material, finish, due date and whether they need a first-article inspection. Files go to the inbox you choose, and the buyer gets a confirmation that says when to expect your quote. If your work involves export-controlled drawings, tell us, and the form tells buyers not to upload them and to call instead.

How should we show our ISO certification?

Name the standard and the edition (ISO 9001:2015, for example), the certification body that issued it, the scope and the expiration date, and link the certificate. ISO itself writes the standards and doesn't certify anyone; a certification body does, so "certified by ISO" is the wrong wording. If you're working toward a certification, say that instead of implying you have it.

We supply maquilas in Juárez. Should the site be in Spanish?

Both. The purchasing contact at a maquila often works in Spanish on the floor and in English with the U.S. parent, and both may read your page before a supplier visit. We write each version for its reader, so the Spanish page uses the plant's terms (maquinados, troqueles, inyección de plástico) instead of a translation.

Does a manufacturer need Google reviews?

Fewer than a restaurant does, but the Business Profile still matters: it's how a buyer finds your address, your hours for pick-ups and your phone. Keep it accurate, add photos of the shop floor and equipment, and answer the reviews you get.

How do I market a manufacturing company?

Give engineers and buyers what they check before sending an RFQ: a capabilities page with processes, materials, tolerances and certifications, photos of your own equipment and parts, and an RFQ form that takes drawings. Then link that page from LinkedIn, from every supplier directory you appear in and from each quote you send. For El Paso and Juárez buyers, having it in English and Spanish serves both the plant and the corporate office.
