The business landscape here

This El Paso small business marketing guide starts from a fact every local already knows: El Paso is not one market. The Franklin Mountains split the city, the bridges pull in customers from Juárez every day, and Fort Bliss keeps bringing in families who have never driven Montana Avenue. The City’s own plan breaks El Paso into Westside, Eastside, Northeast, Central, Fort Bliss and Mission Valley chapters. Your marketing should too, and this guide from Rodco Systems, a bilingual marketing agency in El Paso, takes them one at a time.

Westside and the Mesa corridor

The Brio Mesa line runs about 8.6 miles from Downtown to the Westside, and Mesa Street is the spine most Westside customers use to find you. On this side of the mountain, a listing that says “El Paso” with no part of town is harder to judge than one that says “Westside, off Mesa.” UTEP’s record 27,368 students in fall 2026 add a crowd that turns over with every fall semester.

Northeast and Fort Bliss

The Dyer line connects Downtown to the Northeast. Fort Bliss is the area’s largest employer, with 41,220 direct employees in the Comptroller’s 2023 count, and military families arrive on orders, search for everything from a barber to a dentist, and trust reviews over word of mouth because they don’t have word of mouth yet. A Northeast business that tells them how far it is from the post, and shows a military discount where they can see it, makes their choice easy.

Eastside: Montana, Zaragoza and Loop 375

The Montana line runs 17 miles from Five Points to the Upper East Side, the longest of the four. Plan El Paso says most newer industrial growth sits near Zaragoza Road and Loop 375, mostly warehousing and distribution for Juárez maquiladoras. The Ysleta port logged 641,729 northbound trucks in 2025. That gives Eastside businesses two audiences: households in the new subdivisions, and plant and logistics buyers who expect a bilingual company page and a fast quote.

Central and Downtown

Paso del Norte bridge lands at 1000 S. El Paso St. and Stanton-Lerdo at 1001 S. Stanton, and all four Brio lines start from Downtown or Five Points. Many of the 7.6 million people who walked into El Paso in 2025 came through these two bridges. For a Downtown shop, the first customer of the day may have woken up in Juárez, so the site has to answer in Spanish, list hours in El Paso time, and say how many blocks it is from the bridge.

Lower Valley and Mission Valley

The Alameda line runs 14.5 miles from Downtown to the Mission Valley, and the Ysleta-Zaragoza bridge at 791 S. Zaragoza carries SENTRI and FAST lanes. The Mission Trail starts here at the Ysleta Mission and continues to Socorro and San Elizario, so a Valley restaurant or shop can speak to visitors on the trail as well as to the neighbors who already know it.

Who you are selling to

The Census Bureau estimates 683,012 residents in 2025, Texas’s sixth-largest city. Sixty-three percent speak Spanish at home. The city runs on Mountain Time, an hour behind Dallas and Austin, and 100°F days can come as early as May 7. If you are deciding where to spend first, start with the parts of town you actually serve and the language your customers use at home.

13 facts about El Paso, each linked to where it comes from.

What that means for your website and marketing

  1. Say which side of the mountain you are on. The Franklin Mountains run through the city, so 'El Paso' alone tells a customer nothing about the drive. A Westside shop off Mesa and an Eastside shop off Montana and Zaragoza should each name their part of town and corridor on the site and in the Google Business Profile service area.

  2. Spanish is a full second site here, not a courtesy page. With about 406,000 residents speaking Spanish at home and 155,000 of them speaking English less than very well, service pages, the Google description and the replies on WhatsApp and text all need to work in Spanish.

  3. Part of your market just crossed a bridge. 28.8 million people entered through the three Texas ports in 2025, 7.6 million on foot. Near Paso del Norte, Stanton or Zaragoza, write directions that start at the bridge, show the phone with +1 and put a WhatsApp button where a phone in Juárez can tap it.

  4. Fort Bliss sends a steady flow of newcomers with no one to ask. A soldier or spouse who just arrived reads reviews and searches by part of town, so a Northeast or East El Paso business needs fresh Google reviews, a findable military offer and a sentence saying how far it is from the post.

  5. Every tool has to run on Mountain Time. El Paso is an hour behind most of Texas, and booking widgets, ad schedules and automated texts set up from a Dallas or Austin template fire an hour off until someone changes them.

Questions about El Paso

Should my website say 'El Paso' or name the part of town?

Both, and the part of town matters more than most owners think. The Franklin Mountains split the city, so a customer on the Westside and one on the Eastside are judging two very different drives. Name the parts of town you really serve and the roads people know (Mesa, Dyer, Montana, Zaragoza, Alameda, Loop 375) on your service pages and in your Google Business Profile service area.

Most of my customers speak English. Do I still need Spanish?

Census figures say 63% of El Paso residents age 5 and up speak Spanish at home, and about 155,000 of them speak English less than very well. Many of your English-speaking customers have a parent, a spouse or a business partner in that second group. A full Spanish version, not a translate button, is how those households call you instead of the shop down the street.

Can shoppers from Juárez find my El Paso business?

Your Google Business Profile mostly shows up for people already near your El Paso address, and plenty of them just crossed. In 2025 about 28.8 million people entered through El Paso's three Texas ports, 7.6 million of them on foot. What helps them is Spanish pages, a WhatsApp button, your phone written with +1, and directions that start at the bridge they use.

Why do my ads and booking reminders go out an hour off?

El Paso is on Mountain Time under federal rules, while most of Texas is on Central. A lot of ad platforms, booking tools and CRMs default to Central or to whatever the account was set up with. When we set up your tools, every schedule, reminder and auto-reply is set to Mountain Time and tested.

How do I reach soldiers and families at Fort Bliss?

Through search and reviews, mostly. Fort Bliss is the area's largest employer, with 41,220 direct employees in the Comptroller's 2023 count, 28,784 of them active-duty soldiers, and families arrive on orders without a local friend to ask. Pages that say where you are relative to the Northeast, the Eastside or the post, a military discount that is easy to find and a steady flow of Google reviews do most of the work.

When should an HVAC or roofing company in El Paso start its summer push?

Before May. National Weather Service records show 100°F days as early as May 7 and as late as September 27, and 2023 had a record 70 of them, including 44 in a row. Seasonal pages, after-hours call buttons and ad budgets should run on that El Paso window, not on a June-to-August template.

My business is on the Eastside near Zaragoza. Who am I selling to?

Often to companies as much as households. The City's plan says most newer industrial growth here is warehousing and distribution for Juárez maquiladoras, near Zaragoza Road and Loop 375, and the Ysleta port logged 641,729 northbound trucks in 2025. If you sell to those plants, you need a bilingual business-to-business site that names the ports and corridors your buyers use, alongside the neighborhood pages for the households around you.

Where is the Small Business Development Center in El Paso?

At El Paso Community College, 9050 Viscount Blvd., Suite B-520, (915) 831-7743. It belongs to the Texas South-West SBDC network led by UTSA, and its one-on-one advising on business plans and financing is free. Rodco does not do that work. We build the website, the Google Business Profile and the ads, and many owners work on both at the same time.
