How customers choose
You picked a name, maybe filed it, maybe not yet. Now you need a website that makes a stranger understand the business in a few seconds. Startup website design for a new business isn’t about a big site. It’s about a small one that says the right things, collects interest before you open, and can grow without being rebuilt. Rodco Systems builds first websites for new businesses in El Paso, Las Cruces and Juárez, with a free sample of the home page in one business day and the domain in your name.
How many people are starting something here?
A lot. The Census Bureau’s Business Formation Statistics counted 544,146 business applications in Texas in 2025, about 1,490 a day, and 40,758 in New Mexico. About 151,000 of the Texas applications were the kind the Bureau flags as likely to hire. Each of those founders is asking for the same customers’ attention, and a site that explains the business in one screen is how a new name gets remembered.
What should be in place before the site goes up?
A few things that cost little or nothing and save trouble later.
The name. Check that the domain is free before you file, and file the name you’ll actually use. In Texas, an LLC’s certificate of formation is $300 at the Secretary of State and an assumed name certificate for an entity is $25; sole proprietors file their DBA with the county clerk.
The EIN, if you need one. The IRS gives it out for free online in minutes. Sites that charge a fee for it are not the IRS.
The address question. Google’s Business Profile doesn’t accept virtual offices. If you serve customers at their place, you hide your home address and set a service area. If you’re online-only, the website carries search on its own, and we plan for that.
In Mexico, the S.A.S. lets one or more individuals form a company online for free in about 24 hours, up to 5 million pesos in annual income, with an e.firma for each shareholder.
What does a first website have to do?
Say what, who and where in the first screen, then ask for one thing.
A stranger reading a new name has no context. The first lines say what you sell, who it’s for and where you work. Below that, one main action: join the waitlist, book a call, or request a quote. Then a short about section that says who’s behind it, because a new business is mostly a person people decide to trust.
Before opening day, the main action is usually a waitlist or an early-access form. Those names are your first customers, and an email to them on launch day costs nothing.
What does the page look like? An illustrative wireframe
Picture a phone screen. At the top: the name, one sentence (“Same-day phone screen repair on the Eastside, opening March 2027”) and one button, Get notified. Below, three short points on what’s different, a photo of the founder or the workspace, and a two-line about. At the bottom, the same button and links to the social accounts. After launch, Get notified becomes Book a repair, and the waitlist gets one email. On the Spanish page, the same layout in Spanish.
That’s an illustrative wireframe, not a client’s site. Your name, offer and photos go in.
How does the site grow?
With evidence. We set up analytics from day one, so after a few months you can see which pages people read and where they came from. The second version adds what the numbers ask for: a page per service, booking or ordering, a second language if you started with one, reviews once you have them. Because you own the domain and the files, every step builds on the first one instead of replacing it.

Must-have features
A home page that says what, who and where in one screen.
A new name means nothing to a stranger yet. The first lines have to say what you sell, who it's for and where you work.
One main action.
Join the waitlist, book a call or request a quote. A first site with five competing buttons gets fewer of each.
A domain and email on your own name.
you@yourbusiness.com on the card from the start, registered to you, so customers and suppliers never have to update it.
Google Business Profile, set up the right way.
If you qualify, with a service area instead of a home address. If you're online-only or in a virtual office, we say so and skip it.
Analytics from the first day.
Which pages people read and where they came from, so the second version of the site is built on what happened, not on guesses.
Room to grow.
Service pages, a Spanish or English version, booking or ordering can be added later without starting over.

Region notes
El Paso
Texas logged 544,146 business applications in 2025, about 1,490 a day. A new El Paso business competes for attention in two languages from the start: 63% of city residents age 5 and up speak Spanish at home. Sole proprietors file an assumed name with the El Paso County Clerk; LLCs and corporations file with the Texas Secretary of State, where a DBA certificate is $25 and an LLC formation is $300.
Southern New Mexico
New Mexico recorded 40,758 business applications in 2025. A Las Cruces founder who will also sell in El Paso should check registration in both states before launch; the site can say plainly which side you're based on and where you serve. About 29% of Las Cruces residents speak Spanish at home, so a Spanish page belongs in the first version rather than the third.
Ciudad Juárez
Mexico's S.A.S. lets a founder form a company online for free in about 24 hours, with income up to 5 million pesos a year. A Juárez startup's site opens in Spanish, lists prices in pesos with IVA included as Mexican consumer law requires, and shows the seller's address and contact before any online sale. If you plan to sell to El Paso customers too, an English version from launch saves a rebuild.

Questions
Should I wait until the business is official to build the website?
You can start the site while the paperwork moves. Pick the name, check that the domain is free, and make sure the name you'll file matches what goes on the site. A launch page that collects emails can go up first, with the full site once you're open. What you shouldn't do is print cards with a domain you haven't bought.
What does it cost to register a business in Texas?
At the Texas Secretary of State, a certificate of formation for an LLC or for-profit corporation costs $300, and an assumed name certificate (a DBA) for an entity costs $25. Sole proprietors file their assumed name with the county clerk instead. An EIN from the IRS is free and takes minutes online; sites that charge for one are not the IRS. Which structure fits is a question for an attorney or a tax professional, not for us.
Can I use a virtual office address on Google?
No. Google's guidelines say a rented mailing address the business doesn't operate from isn't eligible for a Business Profile. If you serve customers at their place, you hide your home address and set a service area instead. If you work only online, you may not qualify at all, and the website does the work.
I'm opening in Juárez. What's the fastest way to form a company?
For small founders, the Secretaría de Economía offers the Sociedad por Acciones Simplificada (S.A.S.): it's free to form online, takes about 24 hours, allows one or more shareholders who are individuals, and is capped at 5 million pesos in annual income. Every shareholder needs an e.firma. Ask your own advisor whether it fits.
What if the business changes direction in six months?
Then the site changes with it. We build a small site you can extend: new service pages, a new language version, booking or ordering added later. You own the domain and the files, so nothing locks you in.
Do you work with funded startups or only small businesses?
Both. A product startup usually needs a launch page, a waitlist and a pitch-friendly about page more than a services menu; a local service business needs Google first. We plan the first version around which one you are.
How much does a website cost for a new business?
It depends on how many pages and languages you start with, and a new business usually needs only a few that say what you sell and collect interest. Rodco Systems quotes a fixed price in writing next to a free sample of your home page, consistently undercuts local competition, with higher quality, and charges no monthly website fee. You own the domain and the site from day one, so it grows with the business instead of being rebuilt.
